I finally saw the three subtitled movies last summer! My wonderful net-buddy got them for me in Canada! At any rate, here are my thoughts on the movies and a brief summary of each. If you want to read the scripts to the movies visit Hitoshi Doi's page.

Also these movies have been commercially released by Pioneer. You can either see it subtitled or dubbed, check out your local SunCoast or Video store to rent them!

Sailormoon R - The Movie

This movie involves only the inner senshi and Chibiusa since it takes place directly after the R series. The basic story is about the friendship between Mamoru and Fiore. Fiore is an alien who looks very similar to Ail and Ann from the first part of the R series. Fiore has returned to earth to fufill a promise he made to Mamoru when they were children. He promised to give Mamoru many flowers. Of course this sounds like an innocent sort of thing, but as we all know, when it involves our beloved senshi in any way, nothing is simple. ^_^ Fiore plans on destroying the world with flowers that suck energy. The reason he is acting so strange is because he has become possessed by the Xenian flower. This flower has destroyed many worlds, and it now has it's sights set on Earth.

I don't want to give it all away, I mean you know that good prevails as usual, but the ending of this movie is really neat, and the song "Moon Revenge" that is played at the end is REALLY killer.

Sailormoon S - The Movie

This movie is also known as "The Lover of Princess Kaguya. It's based on Volume 11 of the Sailormoon manga. The film's primary focus is on Luna's "love" for a human male, and it has a very cool scene where Sailormoon turns her into a human female for one night.

The movie starts out with a young astronomer looking through his telescope at a falling star. The star looks strange to him so he goes to investigate where it fell. What fell is a rainbow-colored crystal formation.  He takes it home not knowing that it is from a new enemy, a snow queen who wants to freeze the Earth. The Sailor Senshi become involved when the queen sends her Ice Dancers to freeze the Earth and they want to stop her. The Luna love story is a side story to the movie, but it is engrossed in the major plot as well.

Watch the movie!

Sailormoon SuperS - The Movie

The graphics in this movie were definitely the best of the three. I was amazed at the clarity of them in comparison to the anime series and the other two movies.

This film focuses primarily on Chibi-Usa much like the SuperS anime series. The first scenes of the movie are hilarious when there is a cooking contest between Usagi and Chibi-Usa. I can't begin to describe how funny it really was! Let's just say that Rei and Usagi's crazy fighting antics and gestures pale in comparison.

The major storyline of the movie involves faires luring children from their slumber into boarding a dreamship that will take them to a castle far away. This is part of a plot devised by an evil queen there.  One of the faires - Peruru appears on Earth in a human form and he meets Chibi-Usa. The two have a fun conversation over candy and cookies and it is obvious they form crushes on each other. One evening Chibi-Usa is awoken by the fairy's song and she is lured toward the dream ship. Usagi realizes the problem and alerts the other senshi who attempt to save her from being kidnapped Chibi-Usa awakens from the trance, but she still ends up being taken with the other children.

Sailormoon and the other senshi go to save her with the help of Peruru. And the battle continues! No more spoilers...watch this movie!
